I do. And did LOL!

Here is my initial build. It's a bare frame because I can't budget for MDF right now. Will add MDF later as an outside case, with foam liner for peace and quiet, and fans in the top for airflow. I will also hinge the front as a door, with some sort of industrial latches wink wink

Anyways, bare frame:

And after a couple of hours (running new cable quietly upstairs while my wife slept downstairs took up most of the time...):

I gotta kill that dell fan in the gigE switch at the top. Fucker's loud.

I have power on the right and data on the left. I also have a blue console cable for the cisco equipment running in the data ladder, and a coupler at the top that can hook to any of several straight-through cables I made just for the console ports. All I have to do is plug in to a cable, RDP into the server, open up hyperterminal on it, and work on the cisco box in question.

I even got my cable modem consolidated into the rack, at the very top. Just ran a new cable line to it from the wall jack.

Very Nice.

BTW this was all on my desk before. Very annoying, and LOUD.

Funny how you'd rather have MDF for a rack while us guitarists would rather have plywood instead. The music equipment business should trade with the computer racking business and both will be a lot happier.

MDF has better sound qualities, right?

Nope, birch that's at least 3/4th of an inch thick is better. The glue in MDF doesn't resonate compared. The cheapest guitar cabs are made of MDF while the most expensive ones are made with 1.5" thick birch.
